A Step in The Right Direction

Weidmann UK is thrilled to support its local community by contributing vital funds to the Parish Council. As a major employer in the region, Weidmann was approached for a charitable donation to replace playground surfaces in the two parks located in the community.

This funding will ensure that local children have safe and accessible play areas, fostering an environment where they can thrive and enjoy outdoor activities.

The donation will contribute towards replacing outdated and worn-out surfaces with durable, eco-friendly materials that meet current safety standards, thereby enhancing the overall play experience for the children.

In addition to new surfaces, a section of wooden outdoor play equipment has also been replaced. This is already proving to be very popular with the younger children, helping to enhance their imagination and improve their socializing skills.

“We are grateful for the generous support from Weidmann,” says Belinda Cooke, Councillor for Pool Parish Council. “This contribution will significantly improve our playgrounds and ensure that our children can play safely and happily.”

Weidmann’s UK facility has been an employer in the region since 1886 when it was founded by the Whiteley brothers and produced pressboards for the textile industry.

In 1981, the mill was bought by H. Weidmann and now focuses on manufacturing a range of high-quality, specialized electrical insulation paper products.

General Manager David Botterill, comments, “I firmly believe in investing in people and the community from the grassroots level.  Weidmann’s role in the community will continue to strengthen due to increased electrification and grid resilience to support the energy infrastructure. By harnessing the expertise of local skilled talent collaboratively, we can drive innovation and growth.”
