Weidmann’s Engineered Paper group develops advanced technology solutions for the demanding needs of distribution transformer manufacturers, providing products that optimize insulation system designs, entire transformer designs, and winding productivity and performance.

Field of Application

Engineered Papers are designed exclusively for use in distribution class transformers. These papers are technically enhanced to provide improved performance, often targeting a specific application. Whilst cellulose based, these papers have added properties to improve performance over standard cellulose papers.

TUF-Flex®

Introduction

Made from 100% electrical grade (E-grade) unbleached sulphate (kraft) wood pulp, TUF-Flex® is a thin diamond pattern coated insulation paper with 20% MD elongation that provides the highest level of mechanical performance for layer insulation in distribution transformers. Developed by Weidmann engineers, TUF-Flex® allows the distribution transformer design engineer to replace thicker LV insulation papers with thin TUF-Flex®, resulting in a smaller, lighter, and less expensive coil with lower losses and increased efficiency.

Field of Application

TUF-Flex® paper is specifically designed for use in distribution transformers as an advanced solution for LV foil winding layer insulation.

INSULutions® DPE

Introduction

INSULutions® DPE (Diamond Printed Enhanced) is a Weidmann new generation cellulose based insulating paper engineered to exceed the performance of traditional kraft papers. The enhanced material characteristics include increased thermal rating, accelerated drying and liquid impregnation rates, and better dielectric performance with excellent mechanical strength. DPE is considered a cost effective solution for insulation in standard and higher thermal rating liquid immersed transformers.

Field of Application

INSULutions® DPE is designed exclusively for use in the distribution sector for layer insulation of liquid-immersed transformers with both mineral oil and ester fluids.

INSULutions® STRIP-Flex K

Introduction

INSULutions® STRIP-Flex K is a thin diamond pattern coated layer insulation paper with 5-10% MD elongation that provides superior performance for HV strip layer insulation in distribution transformers. Developed by Weidmann engineers specifically for use on modern HV strip winding machines, INSULutions® STRIP-Flex K provides distribution transformer manufacturers an unparalleled level of winding performance and the ability to run at high speeds and high tension, in order to maximize winding productivity.

Field of Application

Developed for use in distribution class transformers, this HV strip layer material enables manufacturers to increase productivity and performance of modern HV strip winding machines.
